A Life of Worship

We see in scripture that in the beginning Adam and Eve were in a pure, unhindered relationship with God. Everything they did was an act of Worship. They led lives of Worship. However, we know it didn’t take long for man to mess this up.

Then, we see what a loving God we have when He provided a covering for their shame. We see here where God took the initiative in showing man how to return to Him. I am so thankful that God seeks us out—that He desires to meet with us and have relationship with us.

I used to think that if I didn’t meet with God a certain time of the day for a certain amount of time, perhaps God might not give me what I needed. What a lie from the serpent! I am finding as I grow in my journey with the Lord that it is certainly not God who needs me to meet with Him, but it’s I who needs to meet with God. As I meet with Him it helps me to live a life of Worship.

Gen. 22:5 is the first place that the word worship appears. This of course is the chapter where Abraham is tested by putting Isaac on the altar.

Worship
A primitive root; to depress, that is, prostrate (especially reflexively in homage to royalty or God): - bow (self) down, crouch, fall down (flat), humbly beseech, do (make) obeisance, do reverence, make to stoop, worship. (Strong’s Hebrew and Greek Dictionaries)

This I find interesting as I read this definition—to bow down, to humbly beseech—we have to give up pride and surrender ourselves to someone to worship him. I believe God is showing us through this passage that He wants us to surrender ourselves to Him. As we do this, we will find places of worship more and more often in our lives.

Truly, God wants every place we walk to be a meeting place with Him. We see in Genesis chapter 3, when He connected with Adam and Eve again after they had eaten of the fruit, He met them right where they were. He met with them even though they had been disobedient. No matter what we have done or how we have lived, God desires to meet with us. Ladies, there is no shame with Him. Aren’t you grateful for a Heavenly Father who loves us, no matter our past. For some this may be a hard concept to grasp, but His love for you, dear one, is unconditional. Won’t you allow Him today to meet you right where you are? I guarantee that as you begin this journey of worship, you will experience joy and pleasure as you commune with this loving Heavenly Father.

Jesus, I am so thankful that you meet me where I am. Thank you that you love me unconditionally. Help my life to be a life of Worship.
